This is a tall plantain with long, strongly curved fruits that give rise to is common name. This banana cultivar may have the longest fruits of any banana; up to 2’ in length, an individual fruit may weigh as much as 2 lbs. The colorful pseudostem and petioles make this an excellent landscaping plant, but too big for most containers. This banana may be eaten ripe or cooked like other plantains. ‘African Rhino Horn’ attractive foliage and the fact that it can reach up to 20’ in height, make it a conversation piece.
